1. Before You Start
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| App version | Install the latest version of the AeroBand Drum app. Compatible with PocketDrum 2 Ultra only. |
| Device connection | The adapter, drumsticks, and foot pedals are all powered on and paired via Bluetooth. The update notification appears only when all three components are connected. |
| Battery level | All components must be above 50% (about 3 bars). No update prompt will appear when the battery is low. |
| Phone Bluetooth | Keep Bluetooth on and maintain a stable connection. Do not close the app or leave it running in the background. |
| Network | Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network. Downloading the firmware package requires an internet connection; once the download is complete, going offline will not affect the upgrade. |
2. How to Upgrade Through the App (OTA)
2.1 Open Device Settings and Find the Update
Note: The red dot and notification appear only when the adapter, drumsticks, and foot pedals are all connected and sufficiently charged.
There are examples of the error shown below:
2.2 Open the Update Window
Tap the red dot to open the new-version update window.
You can choose to upgrade now (Upgrade Now) or later (Not Now). If you tap Not Now, the window closes but the red dot stays. Tapping the red dot again reopens the update window.
2.3 Tap "Upgrade Now" to Start
Tap "Upgrade Now", and the system upgrades automatically in a fixed order: drumsticks → pedals → adapter (the adapter is upgraded last so all other components finish first).
The whole process takes about 8–20 minutes. Please be patient. During the upgrade:
- Do not turn off Bluetooth, exit the app, or power off the device.
- Do not run the app in the background — doing so pauses the upgrade.
2.4 Wait for Completion and Verify
Each component restarts and reconnects via Bluetooth automatically after a successful upgrade — no manual steps needed. Once all upgrades are done:
- Every component on the app's Device page shows the latest version number.
- The red dot is gone.
How to verify: Go to the Device settings page and check each component's version number. Then disconnect and reconnect Bluetooth manually. If the version numbers stay the same, the upgrade succeeds.
3. Important Notes
- Battery: All components must be above 50% (about 3 bars). Low battery shows "Insufficient power, upgrade not supported".
- Stay connected: Keep a stable Bluetooth connection throughout. Do not exit the app, power off the device, or cut the connection.
- Fixed order: Upgrades always run drumsticks → pedals → adapter. Do not interrupt the process.
- Safe to retry: If the upgrade is interrupted, just reconnect the device and try again. It generally won't damage the device. If it fails repeatedly, contact customer support.
- Version rules: OTA does not support reinstalling the same version or downgrading. No red dot appears when there's no update, and you can't trigger an upgrade manually.
- Optional update: This firmware update is optional. You can close the window and upgrade whenever you like.
- Network: A connection is needed to download the firmware. If the download is interrupted and fails, the system stops the upgrade without writing firmware, and the device keeps working normally.
4. FAQ
-
Why isn't the upgrade pop-up appearing?
Make sure the adapter, drumsticks, and foot pedals are all connected, and each has more than 50% battery (about 3 bars). Restarting the app won't bring the pop-up back — disconnect and reconnect the adapter, then go to the "Device settings" page.
-
What if the app is moved to the background or force-stopped during the upgrade?
If the app is moved to the background, the upgrade pauses — just reopen the app to resume. If the app is closed or force-stopped, reconnect all devices and start the upgrade again. This won't damage the device.
-
What if Bluetooth disconnects during the upgrade?
If Bluetooth disconnects during the upgrade, the system immediately terminates the entire upgrade process. Simply restore the connection and upgrade again.
-
Why does the upgrade fail halfway through?
Confirm the battery is sufficient, Bluetooth is connected, and all devices (drumsticks, pedals, and adapter) are connected. Once everything checks out, try the upgrade again. If it keeps failing, please contact our support team for further help.
-
Can I upgrade to the same version or an earlier one?
No. Neither a same-version nor a lower-version update triggers a notification, and you can't start an upgrade manually.
-
Why didn't the version number change after the upgrade?
Make sure all components were connected before the upgrade started. Once they're all connected, try upgrading again. If the version number still doesn't change after several attempts, please contact our support team for further help.
